The proclamation of the gospel
1) The Places:
- To every Creature: “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” Mark 16:15.
- To all Nations: “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem” Luke 24:47.
- To every Nation, Tribe, Tongue, and People: Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people” Rev 14:6. “And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation” Rev 5:9.
- In Places where Christ was not Named: “In mighty signs and wonders by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation” Rom 15:19, 20.
2)The Procedure:
- With Urgency: “For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” I Cor 9:16.
- Willingly as a Good Steward: “For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship” I Cor 9:17.
- Without Charge: “What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel” I Cor 9:18.
- With Certainty and Discipline: “Therefore I run thus; not with uncertainty. Thus I fight; not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified”. I Cor 9:26, 27.
