Magnitude of God’s faithfulness

Magnitude of God’s faithfulness

One of the wonderful qualities of God is faithfulness. The Bible says that our God is a faithful God and He will keep His covenant love to thousand generations (Deut. 7:9). God’s faithfulness is shown in his agape love of dying for us even when we lived in sin and were ungodly (Rom. 5:6-8). The right understanding of the magnitude of God’s faithfulness helps us to understand God’s faithfulness and commit ourselves to be faithful to Him.

  1. It is everlasting: “Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides.” (Ps. 119:90)
  1. It is unfailing: “Nevertheless My loving kindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail.” (Ps. 89:33)
  1. It is infinite: “Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens, and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.” (Ps. 36:5)
  1. It is great: “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is Your faithfulness.” (Lam. 3:22,23)
  1. It is incomparable: “O Lord God of Hosts, Who is mighty like You, O Lord? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.” (Ps. 89:8) The Old Testament Hebrew word used for ‘faithful’ is munah which means firmness, steadiness or fidelity. This word is used as an attribute of God and shows the total dependability of His character and promises. This word is used in the Bible for the first time in Deut. 32:4. “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He.” He is upright and faithful and does no wrong. So let us understand God’s faithfulness and decide to be faithful to Him in our lives.
