Answers of Prayers for Nation
- After Reformation:
In 1558, Queen Elizabeth became the queen of Britain and the Christians in Britain were very happy because she replaced Bloody Mary who persecuted Christians and burnt hundreds of Christians to death at stakes. Queen Elizabeth gave freedom for the Puritans to worship the Lord. This freedom for the reformers was disliked by the Spanish king. So he planned to invade Britain and conquer the nation by force. About 160 ships with 30,000 marines and sailors were assembled in Calais to cross the British canal. It was one of the most formidable forces and the Spanish people called it as the great Armada ‘the Invincible.’ The British people started praying for a great deliverance. Here is what the historian AM. Renwick wrote on the answer to the prayers of the Queen and the people, “At Calais was a strong army with everything ready to cross to England. The superb seamanship of the English admirals, and their novel tactics, coupled with the boundless heroism of their men, won a glorious victory in the Channel. Storms did the rest, and the Armada was scattered through the North Sea and wrecked on the coasts of England, Norway, and Scotland. Many felt it was the doing of the Lord.”
- In the first world war:
In the first world war, the Prime Minister of England, Lloyd George announced a day of prayer on July 17, 1918. British people prayed for deliverance from the war. On the next day, Germany accepted defeat.3. In the second world war: In the second world war, Hitler defeated many nations in Europe and conquered them one after the other. At that time about three lakhs of British soldiers were trapped in Europe, when France was defeated. They reached the shores of the British Channel and waited for ships to carry them across the Channel to Britain. The Germans were about to annihilate all of them. At that time King George-VI, announced a day of prayer throughout the British Empire. Millions of people prayed for the safety of the soldiers. The Channel wasnquiet on the fateful day and thousands of small boats saved all the British soldiers from the clutches of death. It was another miracle that happened when Christians all over the world prayed for their safety. During Second World War, Britain observed fasting prayer twice. The second fasting prayer was announced on September 8, 1940 when Germany assembled hundreds of ships to take over Britain by crossing the English Channel. A great storm lashed in the Channel and the German ships could not reach Britain.
- In the middle east war:
In the recent war in Iraq, Kuwait was very easily run over and captured by Iraq. This happened on August 2, 1990. The American and the Allied nations decided to liberate Kuwait by force. But they were afraid that there will be many casualties. So before the ground war, Americans declared a day of prayer on February 24, 1991. Christians all over the world prayed for the liberation of Kuwait with least casualty. The Allied forces won the war very easily and Kuwait was liberated within a few days and with least casualty. We all know that our country is now passing through a time of great crisis. Hence it is timefor all Christians to pray fervently for our nation. The Bible calls all believers to make supplications, prayers and intercessions for our kings and all those who are in authority. Will you decide to pray for our nation? Pray that we will have a secular government to rule our country after this election. It will pave a way for us to lead peaceable lives. It is also good and acceptable in the sight of the Lord.
