The Appropriate Treatment for sin
The number one problem of young Christians is sin. They try to solve this problem of sin by so many ways. Here are few ways by which the problem of sin can be dealt with in the life of a believer.
- Acknowledge sin as sin and get forgiveness: “I acknowledged my sin to You and my iniquity I have not hidden, I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin” Ps.32:5
- Be sorry for committing sin: “For I will declare my iniquity I will be in anguish over my sin” Ps.38:18.
- Confess sin as sin to God: “For acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done this evil in Your sight that You may be found just when You speak and blameless when You judge”. Ps.51:3,4
- Determine in your heart not to sin: “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies nor with the wine which he drank, therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.” Dan.1:8
- Resist sin to the point of death: “You have not yet resisted to bloodshed striving against sin” Heb.12:4
- Yield your member to God: “And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God”. Rom.6:13,14
- Lay aside the sins that easily ensnares: “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us and let us run with endurance the race that it set before us”. Heb.12:1
- Pray for God’s help: “Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless and I shall be innocent of great transgression”. Ps.19:13
- Use the way of escape: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God s faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Cor.10:13
- Walk in the spirit: “Walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh”. Gal.5:16
